The Port Mann Main Water Supply Tunnel increased Metro Vancouver’s capacity to accommodate future regional growth while also improving overall system reliability. The project included construction of a 1,006-meter-long (3,300-ft) tunnel under the Fraser River between Coquitlam and Surrey in British Columbia, Canada. This new, larger water main helps ensure the continued, reliable delivery of clean, safe drinking water, and more than doubled the capacity of the existing main.
Securiforce implemented a combination of Live video monitoring and physical guard services to keep the project secure. Guards were responsible for maintaining site security after hours and integrity of any generators, dehumidifiers or equipment left running overnight. Guards worked closely with Securiforce monitoring operators to respond to suspicious activity near or on the project. With the project being very long in distance, the technology of video surveillance supplemented guard services immensely.
